Characteristics Of A True Christian.
|
|
|
|
(Part 1)
One of the first characteristics of a true Christian is the fact that they are more concerned about feeding their spirit than they are about feeding their flesh. (physical body) They seek to feast on the Word of God and satisfy their spiritual hunger more than their physical. They feed their spiritual body more meals than their earthly body.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 6:48 I am that bread of life.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 119:140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it. Psalms 119:162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. Proverbs 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Proverbs 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. Proverbs 4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. ................................................................................................................................. .................................................................................................................................

Characteristics Of A True Christian Part 2

| Part 2.
“Digging A Little Deeper.” .............................................................................................................................................. Another characteristic of a True Christian is found in our thought life. 2 Cor 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
What variety and pattern of thoughts do we entertain ourselves with? Whether our mind is actively engaged or we are daydreaming, are we keeping our focus on The Lord Jesus Christ? When we have time to daydream do we devour the Word which we have hidden in our hearts and meditate on it? Or do we allow worldly things to distract us and take our attention away from our Lord and Savior? Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
We need to keep our minds and thoughts focused on “The Kingdom Of God” at all times. If we are doing this, then we will find ourselves Honoring Him with our every breath. We will constantly praise and worship Him throughout the day, and thanksgiving will continually be on our lips. As we meditate upon His Word which we have hidden in our hearts, His Word will conform us to His image. As a result of being conformed to His image we will begin to bear good fruit, and our fruit will remain. Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
We are responsible for the thoughts we think, and the words we speak. Our words are fed and come forth from the present state of our hearts. Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment.

|
Let your mind dwell on these things.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
*Key Word... Dwell = Let your mind dwell on these things. Dwell =
To take an inventory of.
Estimate. To think on.
Have your thinking consumed in these things!
Conclusion=
We are responsible for keeping our minds consumed in
thoughts that are -True...Pure...Holy...Excellent...& Worthy of Praise. .........................................................................................................
Psalms 1:1
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
Psalms 1:2
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
Psalms 1:3
He will be like a tree {firmly} planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.
*Key Word... Meditate.
Meditate =
Ponder.
Imagine.
Speak.
Study.
talk.
Utter.
Conclusion=
The result of having a mind fixed on Godly things,
is that we will prosper in all that we do.
........................................................................................................
John 15:1-6
1. "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2. "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every {branch} that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
3. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither {can} you unless you abide in Me.
5. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
6. "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
*Key Word, Abide.
Abide=
To stay in a given place.
Tarry.
Remain.
Dwell.
Be present.
Stand firm.
Conclusion=
If we do not remain in close fellowship through prayer& Bible study,
Praise & Worship.
And quietness in His presence.................
We become separated from the source of our spiritual nourishment.
We then become unfruitful, and are of no use except to be
gathered up and cast into the fire to be burned.
..........................................................................................................
Additional notes.
*You cannot straddle the fence.
*As a man thinks, so is he.
What are we filling our minds with?
1. Worldly distractions/lusts ?
worldly/secular TV programs, music, games, conversation.
2. Godly/Heavenly things?
The Word, Worship, Fellowship with Him.
*We are called to be Christ like.... Imitators of Christ.
We can only become like Him by spending time in His presence.
*If the things we practice don't draw us closer to Him,
then they draw us farther away from Him.

Sons and Daughters.
|
|
|
|
Sons and Daughters, Kings and Priests.
Most Christians don't fully understand the true meaning of the authority we have in our relationship as Sons and daughters of the Most High King.
We are Sons and Daughters of the King Himself, and therefore have been given full authority in the name of Jesus to things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. 2Cor 6:18
Adam was given authority over the earth and everything on the earth. Gen 1:28
Adam handed that authority over to satan, but Jesus came and took it back. Matt 28:18
When Jesus left this world to sit at the Fathers right hand He left that authority with us who believe. Luke 10:19
We are to preach the Gospel everywhere we go, proclaiming that....... "The Kingdom Of God Has Come Nigh Unto You." (Near You) Luke 10:8&9
We are to lay hands on the sick. (and they shall recover) We are to cast out demons.
"We Are To Do The Same Works Jesus Did." (And even "Greater Works") John 14:12
When we fully realize our right standing as Sons and Daughters, then we will be able to fulfill the task for which we have been called.
There is no greater name than the name of Jesus.
We have been given the name of Jesus to carry out the Fathers business. (proclaiming the Kingdom of God)
And signs and wonders will follow us to verify what we preach. Mark 16:17
God Bless. Brother Ron.

And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
