1. Admit to God that you have sinned.  Romans 3:23  For ALL have sinned and fall short of Gods grace.

2. Ask God for forgiveness.  1 John 1:8-10  If we say we have not sinned, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 

3. Accept His gift of forgiveness.  Psalms 103:12-13  As far as the East is from the West, so far will He remove the sins of those who ask Him.  As a father pities his children, so the Lord has pity on those who fear Him.  Hebrews 8:12  For I will be merciful to thier unrighteousness, and thier sins and thier lawless deeds I will remember no more.  Revelation 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door of your heart and knock, if anyone hears and opens the door of thier heart to Me, I will come in and have fellowship with them, and they with Me.  (This is what is known as the New Birth.  It is actually a time that we die to this world and its lusts, and are reborn into The Lord Jesus Christ, for His good works and pleasure.)

4. Study the bible daily.  John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.   Psalms 119:11  Your Word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.  The more we indulge in the Word, and treasure it in our heart, the more Christ-like we become.  Jesus was the Spoken Word made Flesh.  As we memorize and meditate on the Word, we are literally filling our heart with God, which causes us to become like Him (in His image)  It is also important to study (read) our bible loud enough for us to HEAR  the Word spoken.

5. Pray daily.  Our daily prayer time is our chance to have fellowship with Him.  We cannot get to know someone if we do not spend time talking (praying) with them.  As in any conversation, it is important to be silent at times, and let God speak to us also.  God speaks to us through His Holy Spirit, who speaks to our hearts and minds with impressions. We must learn to know the voice of God, as every good thought comes from above, and is true and righteous. And also lines up with His Word (the bible)  Every evil thought comes from below, and needs to be rejected.

6. Believe, and Confess that Jesus is lord.  Romans 10:8-13   The Word is near you, in your heart, and in your mouth.  That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  Confess to others that Jesus is Lord, and share His gospel with others.

7. Find a good bible believing church to attend.    Hebrews 10:24,25   And let us consider one another, in order to stir up love and good deeds.  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day drawing near.   A good bible centered church is important for spiritual growth and fellowship.
